Did you know that our Swim is made from nylon waste, plastic bottles and discarded fishnets from landfills and oceans around the word?? As we started to research the effects the textile industry can have on global waste and pollution we realised we need to be conscious of how we design and the resources we use.. we found @econylbrand and @repreve and love what they are doing.. It starts with rescuing waste like fishing nets and fabric scraps from landfills and oceans all over the world. That waste is then sorted and cleaned, to recover all of the nylon possible. Through a radical regeneration and purification process, the nylon waste is recycled right back to its original purity.
It’s exactly the same as brand new Nylon and can be recycled, regenerated and remoulded again and again... as passionate surfers and ocean lovers we don’t want to pollute the ocean in any way. The ocean is our happiness!

ENVIRONMENTAL BENEFITS

For every 10,000 tons of ECONYL® raw material, these are the environmental benefits obtained:

- Elimination of 12.6 thousand tonnes of waste
- Saved 70,000 barrels of crude oil
- Avoided 57,000 tons of CO2 equivalent emissions
- Reduces the global warming impact of nylon by up to 80% compared with the material from oil

Unifi, which makes REPREVE has recycled over 14 billion plastic bottles. Billions of plastic bottles go into landfills every year.

We are not just finding new life for recycled materials. Compared to making what's called virgin fiber, making REPREVE offsets using new petroleum, emitting fewer greenhouse gases and conserving water and energy in the process. That makes a big difference for our future.
